The school has a POCSO Committee and Internal Complaints Committee with well-defined norms. These committees organise periodic awareness programmes customised to different age groups so that all members feel secure and protected. PICT's Nestling focuses on skill building. As such, learners have a dedicated and structured play time every day, which focuses on developing their fine motor and gross motor skills. Intra-school events and theme-based activities are held on a regular basis to encourage and promote physical fitness. The school campus has designated areas with specialised infrastructure, and experienced educators have been engaged to ensure that children get all-round training in physical fitness and sports.

13) How is a day at PICT's Nestling like?

A day in the life of a PICT's Nestling learner - As the sun rises on the horizon, the pitter-patter of tiny feet and the animated conversations of the learners can be heard as they enter the wide-open doors of the school at 8:15 am each morning. The little learners then find their way into their classrooms and confidently place their belongings in their respective places, while talking to their friends and educators. After attendance, Anapana and the school prayer, the learners' day begins with a breakfast break at 8:30 am. Energised with the nutritious meal, they come back to class and spend some of the time understanding concepts, playing outdoors and developing bonds. With lots of activity done, they go for a quick snack break at 11:30 am. At 12:50 pm, they leave the school with mixed feelings; a little disappointed at having to say goodbye to their friends and happy to be with their parents, after a day well spent.

In case of illness or an emergency, a written note has to be sent to the class educator the following day through the diary, or an email can be sent to the school, mentioning the name of the learner, grade and section.

In case of a planned absence, a written note has to be sent to the class educator through the diary, and an email can be sent to the school, at least two days in advance, mentioning the name of the learner, grade and section.

Parents are requested not to take a vacation or long leave when the school is in session, as it affects the academic progress of the child. In case of compelling circumstances, prior permission must be sought from the Principal (at least one week in advance). Attendance on the first day (after vacation/ school reopening) and the last day (before vacation) is compulsory.

16) What is the mode of communication with the school?

PICT's Nestling religiously follows two primary modes of communication: the School Almanac and the Beacon, our weekly transaction report. We can be contacted via email and phone calls as published in the school Diary, for specific concerns.

For the best interest of the learner, we do not encourage communication regarding academic performance, fee dues, behavioural issues of the child, concerns regarding staff and other personal family matters through the school diary. Such communications are restricted to the exchange of mail only.

17) How frequently do you conduct PTMs?

PTMs are organised regularly on a need basis, the schedule of which is published in the School Diary. The time schedule for the same is sent about a week in advance to the parents. PTMs are organised both online and on campus, as required. Attendance is mandatory for the parents. Should a need arise to meet the teacher, prior appointment can be taken through a diary message, email or a phone call.

18) What is the role of a PICT's Nestling parent?

Educators are trained to take care of teaching and learning, but not parenting. When parents spend quality time with their children, listen to them patiently and support them emotionally, only then will children feel secure and grow up with confidence. As much as the educators shoulder their responsibilities, we would like our parents to pay attention to the following:

  • Abiding by the policies and regulations stated in the school diary, which govern the day-to-day functioning of the school.
  • Informing the school about pre-existing medical conditions and/or learning difficulties/disabilities that may interfere with the learning process and, hence, achieving the learning benchmarks of the curriculum.
  • Regular monitoring of the child's performance. Encouraging self-study provides an opportunity for reflection and self-evaluation, fundamental components to becoming independent learners.
  • Checking and signing the notes in the school diary daily.
  • Encouraging and supporting the child to participate in all events and competitions.
  • Updating themselves through the Weekly Transaction Report sent by mail every Friday.
  • Attending all PTMs and Parent Orientation Programmes conducted at regular intervals.
  • Parents are strongly advised to meet the Educators in case of behavioural issues or academic concerns, without delay.
